Like many eyeglass wearers, Don Shefler was flustrated by the poor designs of eyeglass repair kits available on the market. For decades, eyeglass repair kits, while necessary for eyeglass owners who did not want to have to purchase a new pair of glasses everytime something went wrong (i.e. screw comes loose, nose pad breaks off, etc.), were stuck trying to use a repair kits that simply was NOT USER FRIENDLY.
In a traditional eyeglass repair kit, tiny replacement screws are left loose, leaving them to be easily mishandled and dropped on the floor. Another problem with traditional repair kits was that the person attempting the repair is not able to wear their eyeglasses during the repair, making it even more difficult to see and handle the tiny screws.
Eventually, some repair kits started to include a tiny magnifying glass. The problem with that was, the person attempting the repair only has two hands. If they are holding the magnifier in one hand, and the screw driver in the other, how can they hold and manipulate the glasses and screws?
After continued frustrations with what was on the market, Don Shefler decided to do something about it, and set out to design a better "mouse trap". The result is an eyeglass repair kit that is truly USER FRIENDLY, and which will not end up with small parts strewn all over the floor.
